The firm was founded by the US attorneys John L. Urban and Carl Christian Thier in Orlando, FL 2005. It has grown to six US offices, with the main offices in New York and Orlando, FL. UTF cooperates closely with the German law firm Urban Thier & Federer Rechtsanwaelte with offices in Munich and Aachen. UTF maintains a satellite office in London, UK.
UTF focuses its practice in the area of cross border consultation and litigation, particularly in the areas of commercial, corporate and business law, as well as international estate planning, probate and US immigration law.
